Pleasant staff, nice clean rooms, good bed, great location

The room was spaceous and extremely comfortable in a rural location, but within easy reach of Ashford.

friendly homely atmostphere, lots to do round and about. would go back again.

I really enjoyed my stay. My room was clean and comfortable and had all the facilities you would want or need. In particular, I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. I would certainly stay there again, and would recommend it as a base to stay if visiting the Canterbury area and not wishing to pay the extremely high prices in the city itself. Trains go twice an hour into the city and the journey is under 10 minutes.

The staff were very friendly and efficient, the room was really nice with a very good bathroom, excellent breakfast, very good all round

Pigeons, the inn needs to do something to discourage pigeons from perching on the chimney pots,we were woken at 4 30 and 5 30am by cooing

Fantastic pub - grade a*! Great food , great beer , great staff and great room We will be back

    Nothing - great garden too

Staff at breakfast helpful. Breakfast good.

Felt rooms very small and rather dark. Would not choose to stay there again, but was our second choice, we wanted to stay at Wife of Bath but it was full.

the location of the pub is within 15 minutes drive of the Tunnel and makes an excellent overnight stop - the service and reception were very friendly - the food both dinner and breakfast was very good - a really excellent place to stay as it is in a country village but only a few minutes drive to Ashford for shopping - beer was excellent !!

room was very clean - a bit small but for one night was not a problem

Easy to access, good parking and very welcoming. Good food although service rather slow. Really nice room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good desk for work in room

Bathroom a little impractical - design not thought through well enough

Taking animals and a large garden

    Room a bit small

We like to stay in the coach house rooms as they are really great value for money and very comfortable, the facilities in the room are good and the bathroom is excellent it's nice to have a good power shower with all the toiletry you need. The food in the restaurant it's also very good home cooked food with variety.

One very small thin really, conditioner for your hair could be added to the toiletrys for the ladies just in case.

This was my second stay at this place. The service was great, Staff was friendly and attentive at all times. The rooms (Hotel has only 9) are cozy, comfortable and spacious (make sure you stay in Romm #5!). The food is delicious and of high quality. Make sure you have dinner at this lovely place. As the Hotel is close to Ashford International Train Station (14 min by car), we stayed at the hotel for a trip to London (38 min by High-Speed Train). I will definetly return!

  • Older travelers

The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was very homely, only item missing was the real fire in the lounge! Bedroom was good and comfortable and it was nice an quiet overnight - no sound of cars or revellers on the street!

The food was not to the standard I would have expected of a country inn at the prices being charged. Lack of thought to presentation - a large "splodge" of mashed potatoes was on the plate with a breast of pheasant, and the same for fillet of lamb. Meat portions could have been slightly bigger. Breakfast in the morning was rather poor in quality - croissant was either stale or had been overheated, tea was not hot and service took too long,. Insufficent staff in morning for the number of guest coming down at one time., Would have been better to have done a self service cold buffet style breakfast and taken the pressure of the one girl serving and allowed guests to get their breakfast promptly.
